Critique of a Nursing Practice Philosophy
APN, or Advanced Practice Nursing, is a specialty that focuses on providing evidence-based treatment in various settings. This care is founded on the most recent research and ideas and the finest available data. APNs use a range of frameworks, including the nursing process, systems theory, and change theory, to provide the best possible care (Hu & Forgeron, 2018).
Furthermore, APNs adhere to the principle of treating all patients with respect and compassion, regardless of their backgrounds (Hu & Forgeron, 2018). APN is a vital branch of nursing that combines ideas, models, theories, and philosophies to deliver the best possible care to everyone. However, the APN practice philosophy has significant downsides. It is sometimes challenging to implement because it demands healthcare professionals to collaborate and employ new technology (San Martín-Rodríguez et al., 2019).
Proposed Revision
Furthermore, the existing APN nursing practice philosophy may be enhanced to reflect the field’s dedication to patient-centered care. The existing philosophy, for example, may be altered to stress the value of patient autonomy and empowerment. Furthermore, the philosophy should reflect the APN’s emphasis on providing evidence-based treatment and its dedication to multidisciplinary teamwork. These changes to APNs’ nursing practice philosophy will guarantee that patients receive the best possible care.
Personal Philosophy of Advanced Practice Nursing Aligned with the APRN Consensus Model
My own advanced practice nursing perspective is based on the APRN Consensus Model. The six core competencies of clinical practice, teaching, research, leadership, performance improvement, and advocacy are the foundation of this paradigm (Goudreau et al., 2022). In my opinion, advanced practice nurses have the duty to deliver safe, high-quality care while also serving as role models for other nurses. To that end, I work hard to keep my clinical and professional knowledge up to date, as well as to be an advocate for my patients and the nursing profession. I also believe in the value of teamwork and interdisciplinary practice in improving patient outcomes.
