Obesity is a social health problem that needs communal intervention to solve. Healthy hospitals offer a viable alternative to addressing this challenge because of their vast outreach and influence within the community. A wellness program should focus on preventing obesity incidence and promoting healthy living among the people.

My proposed program will involve a healthy physical and nutritional campaign within the community. I will propose various physical exercises and activities that will help maintain the required body metabolism in human bodies. The program will involve providing brochures and posters with guidelines on healthy feeding. The types of foods necessary to prevent obesity include vegetables, fruits, healthy proteins, whole grains, and plant oils. The programs will also involve practical lessons to educate the members on healthy eating, cooking, and recipes that include a practical demonstration of best cooking practices (Kelder, Hoelscher, & Shegog, 2017). Besides, the program will involve monthly physical exercises led by a team of health practitioners from the clinic. The programs will involve various stakeholders from the health sector and the community, in general, to partake in the valuable lessons and demonstrations.

The wellness program will apply the principles of the social cognitive theory to influence learning. The theory proposes that it focuses on learning due to social influence and internal and external stimuli. The program shall apply the six constructs of behavior capability, reinforcements, observational learning, expectations, reciprocal determinism, and self-efficacy. The constructs shall seek to initiate a positive nutritional and exercise behavior and maintain it to enhance long-term health benefits for the community. The role of health practitioners is to regulate and control the determinants of healthy living to prevent the incidence of obesity in the community. However, the outcome of the process depends on the individual effort to follow the set guidelines and instructions to limit and reduce obesity.

The program addresses various health determinants within the community. First, the social environment is a critical condition in which people live and determines their health levels. Physical environment refers to the physical spaces where people live, sleep, eat and travel in their daily lives. The program also addresses the construct of social support networks; through the partnerships of various stakeholders to prevent the incidence of obesity (Sharma, Pinto& Kumagai, 2018). The campaign targets people of either gender, race, ethnicity, social class, and all ages to create a lasting solution.
