From a theoretical perspective, depression during or after pregnancy is common among women aged 15 to 44. Full reference to the article is as follows: Parcells, D. A. (2010). The baby may have biological and behavioral defects. As the purpose of the study, the article raises this important topic to understand the causes of this depression, and the available treatments (Parcells, 2010).

The study performed was targeted at identifying the correlation between indicators of psychosocial distress. 59 women participated in the research as a non-probability sample. The results of the study showed a higher incidence of anxiety, stress, and depression before childbirth. Depression was more common in the results of the study sample than anxiety (Parcells, 2010).

The author insists that due to the large number of cases where depression occurs in women, more attention should be paid to their psychological state during pregnancy which I agree with (Parcells, 2010). The author recommends continuing research on the effectiveness of the effect of drugs on the health of patients and their newborns (Parcells, 2010). Through the research made, the author contributes to the development of the science of depression.
