My long-term objective is to become a skilled family nurse practitioner (FNP). This profession will make it possible for me to provide evidence-based services in a primary health care setting. In such a situation, a FNP will focus on disease prevention and wellness. Such a caregiver will also diagnose and treat different conditions affecting all members of the family (Campbell, 2017). Competent FNPs develop evidence-based management and care plans for patients with both chronic and acute diseases. They can prescribe medications and provide patient care.

With this kind of knowledge, I have decided to pursue the Master of Nursing-Nurse Practitioner at the University of British Colombia (UBC). This institution is a leader in the field of nursing and equips learners with evidence-based concepts for meeting patients’ needs. Most of the aspects, achievements, and attributes associated with the UBC program resonate with most of my current and future goals as a FNP.

For instance, I believe that the successful completion of this program will make me a proficient nurse who is capable of diagnosing, assessing, and treating numerous conditions affecting family members across the lifespan. I will be empowered to practice autonomously in a primary care environment and collaborate with other professionals to offer high-quality care. The program will make it easier for me to apply and interpret emerging knowledge to transform the quality of primary care.

I possess various competencies and qualifications that can guide me throughout the study period. I have completed a degree in nursing. This academic achievement means that I have what it takes to pursue the targeted educational program and become a professional caregiver. I always focus on the unique principles and meta-paradigms of nursing. I understand my scope of practice and know how to interpret existing knowledge and apply it in different care settings. I also focus on different theoretical frameworks and concepts that can inform healthcare delivery. I possess adequate knowledge and skills gained from my educational and professional experiences. Some of them include proper communication, attentive listening, collaboration, teamwork, and cultural competence.

I also embrace the power of theory to influence my care delivery decisions. Although most of these educational and professional experiences are critical for improving my nursing model, I will apply them accordingly to achieve most of my goals in the MN-NP program. For instance, I will use my listening and communication skills to interact with different tutors, lecturers, supervisors, and classmates.

The idea of teamwork will guide me throughout the process to establish group discussions in order to record positive results (Campbell, 2017). I will use competencies such as time management and decision-making to focus on the best approaches that can support my learning objectives. The concept of continuous learning will become a powerful model for empowering me to achieve my goals in the targeted educational program.

With these observations, I am optimistic that my application to study at UBC will be accepted and make it possible for me to pursue my objectives. This achievement will also empower me to continue providing high-quality care in different primary health care environments.
