Understanding Cultural Values

Consent involves getting permission to undertake a particular action or coming into an agreement with the involved parties. Leticia has to ensure that the father is requested and informed about each procedure conducted. Informed consent allows easy decision-making and an adequate flow of activities. It creates a good link between the healthcare providers and the patients; in this case, Leticia’s father has to decide on their health and the right to choose where to be nursed. The absence of consent leads to risks and legal action taking place. Communication will serve as a crucial factor in obtaining an informed decision.

Individualism is evident in that Leticia’s husband shows less concern for the issues of healthcare. Michael blames Leticia for taking too much time and effort to take care of their parents and having no interest in their family. Michael’s actions make it difficult for Leticia to decide for their ailing parents, who need more attention and care. Leticia lacks choice, goes through stress and a joint decision on how to deal with both parties.

Uncertainty avoidance is another issue, where Camille is reluctant of taking the husband to the nursing home because they are afraid that the clinical results might not be favorable. Coming into an agreement with Camilla has become a challenge. Disagreement between all the family members has dominated the decision plan; each member has their perspective and view over the matter and feels that their opinion is correct. It has affected their father’s health’s overall objective that leads to their daughter’s stressful moments.

The plan and decision for nursing home placement need an opinion from their father, and they have to get informed consent. The agreement between the father and the engaged group can facilitate the easy organization of activities. They should ensure that the whole family understands the importance of the decision and the benefits to Leticia, who has a lot of decisions to make. Mr. Bautista has to get informed and take through the benefits, the family to opt for a nursing home. All these activities make the father understand and prevent feeling lonely and rejected by the family members. The team needs to involve the nursing home professionals and clearly explain the services they offer and the requirements (Wynn, 2021). The family members have to agree with Leticia’s mother to get a detailed plan of how the actions will occur. A joint decision creates room for quality services, and there have to be signed documents about the procedures and well filed for use in case of a dispute outbreak.

Mrs. Bautista’s decision against resistance and rejection to take the husband to a nursing home has to be interfered with quickly. There has to be a designed program that allows Leticia’s mother to change the negative mindset. The benefits of the program must overdo the disadvantages. They have to understand and clarify that Leticia has to sustain the job and family, and it is impossible to multitask. The best available option is to have Mr. Bautista taken to a nursing home because of the ready healthcare specialist who can understand the condition better than Leticia. The level of illness needs to be taken care of in a specified center of care; it enables easy monitoring of the disease progression and allows effective treatment (Bunce, 2018). Camilla has to have the opportunity to conduct visits anytime. The set formula and criteria work if the wife considers it a wise decision.

Communication Problems

One of the issues experienced in this case include being expectant that Leticia can make the overall decisions concerning their father. The family has high anticipations that their daughter can understand their minds and come up with reasonable answers. The members depend on what might be of help without assisting in making conclusions. The whole family should decide whether right or wrong to support their health issues and avoid leaning on one side for decision. Secondly, the worry that the problems might get worse than expected has ruined the members’ minds. For instance, the mother is against the daughter’s decision to take the father to a nursing home, and the reason might be the fear that Mr. Bautista’s health has to deteriorate.

The fear and worry make the family confused, lacking a final answer to their problem. The issues need addressing from those resisting to accept the procedure — a detailed explanation given to both parties involved to reach a final decision. Additionally, the fictional moments in Leticia’s family make decision-making challenging. Michael’s decision and interpretation of information affect the flow of activities and leads to drawbacks. The action is achieved when Michael walks in line with the rest of the members and assists them in making judgemental reasoning.

The sources of stress include the husband-wife relationship, which is evident in both parties, Michael and Bautistas family. Leticia’s husband complains due to the lack of family concern by the wife, and this makes them differ in their ideas and decision. The stressful action occurs when Leticia has to decide whether to take care of the family or show more concern to the parents. The other Camilla and Bautista disagree with their daughter’s decision for a nursing home. There is a lack of family support from both sides, but they depend on one person for decisions. All this can be corrected and achieved by coming up with a joint formula and agreement and engaging every family member despite their parents being old.
