A nursing intervention of any scope requires having adequate resources to improve the chances of success as well as provide the basis upon which further quality improvement changes will occur. In the effort to educate CHF patients about precautions they should take when traveling to prevent adverse events, the first category of resources needed is personnel. The lack of a well-qualified nursing force has been considered a detrimental barrier to quality improvement, which is why it is necessary to have enough practitioners who will educate patients (Rivaz et al., 2017). There has also been a long-standing positive connection between staffing levels and the quality of care delivered to patients (Oppel, & Young, 2018). Time resources represent the second category of the current project as nurses will have to allocate time to participate in the intervention. Time allocation is essential as it will allow nurses and patients the opportunity to connect throughout the process of education on CHF when traveling.
Financial resources are the third category needed for intervention implementation because of the need to cover some expenses. While nurses will not be reimbursed for their participation in the intervention, it is necessary to cover any transportation expenses or costs of Information Technologies, including statistical software or telehealth solutions, if used (Papandrea, 2018). The fourth and final category is educational resources, which include any information to be shared and disseminated between CHF patients and their care providers (Gensini et al., 2017). Evidence-based practice guidelines will be used as a basis for patient education, and it is important that nurses have unrestricted access to them when working with their patients. Overall, having the four mentioned categories of sources can significantly aid in the implementation of the intervention.
