Evidence-based practice is a therapeutic approach in the healthcare system that aids in bringing together past studies and gaps experienced. The aim of integrating challenges and practice is to improve care and reduce the morbidity and mortality of patients in healthcare organizations. For instance, infections and deaths resulting from CAUTI are among the challenges that the health care system is experiencing. However, the integration of care, practices, and studies aid in reducing the number of morbidity and mortality (Kozleski, 2017). The execution of (EBP) has a scientific foundation, thus resulting in positive health outcomes. In addition, accountability is enhanced since the availability of data determines the type of practice to be undertaken.
The evidence-based project aimed to implement effective handwashing techniques to prevent Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI). One way of evaluating the project is to check on several infections and mortality rates reported in the health facility before and after implementing the project. By carrying out the comparison, it is easy to detect the change of numbers, thus judging whether the project has brought tremendous change (Fiset, Graham, & Davies, 2017). Additionally, the number reported of infections and mortality is compared to the project set standards to see whether the threshold has been reached.
The implementation and evaluation of a change proposal are critical in determining the impact of handwashing in preventing CAUTI. The evaluation method will aid in measuring and ascertaining the success, which is if the expected outcome of the project was achieved. In addition to determining the efficacy and financial challenges of evidence-based projects in health organizations that were incurred. Failure to meet the required or anticipated outcome then solutions to the gaps identified are curbed and the project re-implemented.
